| Bruce Shade is the NECO
Region 5 RMRS Coordinator.
He is also a
part-time paramedic/firefighter for the City of Willoughby, OH and a paramedic
instructor at Cuyahoga Community College.
Bruce has been involved in emergency services since 1972, starting as
a volunteer firefighter/EMT in Granger Twp, OH. From 1975 to 1999 he served
as paramedic, educational supervisor, paramedic training program director,
and commissioner for the City of Cleveland’s Division of Emergency
Medical Service. From 2000 to 2001 he served as executive administrator
and the city’s Disaster and Emergency Coordinator. From 2001 until
his retirement in 2006, he served as the city’s Assistant Public
Safety Director.
Bruce is a past President, Vice President, and Treasurer of the National
Association of EMTs and chairperson of the Instructor Coordinator Society.
He has served as president of several local associations and chairperson
of
many committees and task forces. Bruce has authored several EMS textbooks
and has written many EMS-related articles. He has lectured extensively
at local, regional, state, and national EMS conferences.
